Poland’s oil pipeline operator PERN and gas storage operator Gas Storage Poland have signed a cooperation agreement to enhance the security and resilience of critical energy infrastructure. The deal, signed on June 10, 2026, focuses on information sharing, coordination, and building organizational capacity to respond to threats.
The agreement was signed in the presence of Wojciech Wrochna, the government plenipotentiary for strategic energy infrastructure, by PERN CEO Daniel Świętochowski and vice-president Piotr Gryska, along with Gas Storage Poland CEO Karina Szostak and board member Mariusz Belczyk. The pact aims to strengthen the security of infrastructure deemed vital for the country’s energy security.
Scope of cooperation
The memorandum of understanding covers exchange of information and experience, coordination of actions, and building organizational resilience and response capabilities to threats that may affect infrastructure of key importance for state energy security. Both companies stressed the long-term nature of the partnership as part of a broader approach to bolstering national infrastructure resilience.
– The security of energy infrastructure today requires cooperation between entities responsible for different parts of the system, but working toward the same goal: state stability and continuity of supply. Joint actions by state-owned companies allow building more effective response mechanisms and information exchange in areas vital for state security – said Wojciech Wrochna.
Industry response
PERN CEO Daniel Świętochowski noted that security is a priority for his company, covering both infrastructure protection and development of cooperation with operators and state security institutions. – The scale and nature of modern threats mean that infrastructure security now requires not only our own competences and procedures but also exchange of experience and threat information. Such actions allow us to constantly increase the level of infrastructure protection, coordinate activities, and develop procedures – he emphasized.
Karina Szostak, CEO of Gas Storage Poland, added that cooperation between entities in the energy infrastructure sector has a practical dimension. – Exchange of experience and information, along with a shared approach to security, allows organizations to better prepare for situations requiring rapid response and efficient coordination of actions – she stated.
Gas Storage Poland is the operator of gas storage facilities in the country, responsible for making storage capacity and power available to market participants while ensuring efficient use of installations.
