Greenway secures 138 million euros for ev charging network expansion in central and eastern europe

GreenWay, an operator of electric vehicle charging infrastructure, has secured EUR 138 million from a consortium of banks. The funds will be used to expand its network in Poland, Slovakia, Croatia, and other Central and Eastern European countries.

The banking consortium includes Crédit Mutuel Arkéa, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) with support from the InvestEU programme, ING Bank Śląski, and mBank, which also acts as security agent and green loan coordinator. The total transaction value reaches EUR 138 million and includes a refinancing line, an investment financing line (CAPEX), and a working capital line totalling EUR 113 million, plus an additional non-binding facility of EUR 25 million.

A strong financial backing for regional expansion

So far, GreenWay has raised up to EUR 258 million for electromobility development in Central and Eastern Europe. This amount includes support from international infrastructure funds such as Generation Capital, Helios Energy Investments, and Mirova, as well as early-stage investors Janom Investments and Neulogy Ventures. The company was also the first in the region to receive funding from the Connecting Europe Facility / Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Facility for public charging infrastructure in Slovakia (2013) and Poland (2016), and later obtained InnovFin recognition and financing from the European Investment Bank (2018). It has also benefited from programmes of the Polish National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management (NFOŚiGW).

Currently, GreenWay operates 5,800 charging points at over 1,680 locations. The company holds a market share exceeding 90% among registered EV users on each of its key markets.

Rapid growth of the ev market in central europe

The European electric vehicle market is growing dynamically – in the first two months of 2026 alone it expanded by 19%. In Poland, the fleet of battery electric vehicles (BEV) increased by about 62% year-on-year (April 2026 vs. April 2025), reaching 147,000 units. In Slovakia, growth was around 68%, with BEV numbers reaching nearly 28,500. The current geopolitical situation is expected to further accelerate this trend.

GreenWay notes that its established infrastructure and strong financial backing position it well to meet the rising demand for charging points across the region.
