BGK boosts foreign expansion of polish companies with record financing in 2025

Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego (BGK) has significantly increased its support for Polish companies seeking to expand abroad, financing 150 projects worth over 2.6 billion złoty in 2025. The state development bank is now active in 90 markets worldwide, with a particular focus on Africa, where it raised financing limits to 4 billion złoty last year.

Arkadiusz Zabłoński, director of BGK’s Department of Foreign Expansion and Trade Financing, highlighted the bank’s growing role during this week’s TXF Global conference – the most important event dedicated to export and foreign expansion financing. According to Zabłoński, financing exports and foreign expansion is one of BGK’s strategic priorities. The bank participated in 20 more transactions in 2025 compared to the previous year, and the total value of its support increased by 900 million złoty.

Record year for bgk-backed international projects

In 2025, BGK’s financing covered a wide range of sectors and regions. The portfolio included the construction of a railway line in Tanzania, the sale of food products to Jordan, and agricultural machinery exports to Egypt and Algeria. European projects ranged from a hotel renovation in Italy to the construction of solar farms in Romania. The bank also supported a cross-border acquisition in Turkey and numerous transactions for Polish exporters in Ukraine.

– Financing exports and foreign expansion is one of our strategic priorities – stwierdził Arkadiusz Zabłoński, dyrektor Departamentu Ekspansji Zagranicznej i Finansowania Handlu BGK. – We are present in 90 markets and we hope Polish entrepreneurs will take advantage of the opportunities we see for them, especially in Africa, which is currently a huge construction site.

Focus on africa as a strategic growth market

During the TXF Global conference, infrastructure project financing in Africa was a major theme. BGK responded by increasing its financing limits for selected African countries to 4 billion złoty in 2024. The bank believes that Polish companies can benefit from the continent’s rapid development, particularly in infrastructure, energy, and agri-food sectors.

BGK’s support is provided through its own balance sheet as well as the government program Finansowe Wspieranie Eksportu (FWE). The bank’s growing activity reflects a broader push to internationalize Polish businesses and reduce their reliance on the domestic market. With 150 projects funded in 2025 alone, the upward trend is expected to continue in 2026.
