Austrian building materials giant Baumit has confirmed its fourth Polish production plant is now under construction in Zimna Wódka, Opole Voivodeship. The facility, valued at approximately 100 million złoty, is being built right next to the A4 motorway and is scheduled to start operations in the second quarter of 2027.
The new factory will occupy 5,000 square metres and will be equipped with fully automated, low-emission production lines. It will manufacture a wide range of products, including exterior plasters and paints, adhesive mortars, machine-applied plasters, screeds, masonry mortars and concretes. The investment is being carried out with support from the Katowice Special Economic Zone.
Construction has already reached critical milestones. The reinforced concrete frame of the main production and warehouse hall has been completed, and work is now underway on the fire separation wall that will divide the production and storage areas. The fire water tank is also nearing completion.
Construction milestones and technological tower
One of the key elements of the future plant is the technological tower, whose load-bearing structure for the first stage of the investment has already been built to about 80 percent. The tower rises 9.5 metres above foundation level. At the same time, advanced work is progressing in the raw materials storage zone.
– The construction of the main production and warehouse hall and the start of the technological tower assembly are among the most important milestones of this investment – said Tomasz Kaps, plant manager of Baumit in Zimna Wódka. He added that all activities are proceeding according to the schedule.
The company, part of the Austrian Schmid Industrie Holding, already has factories in Pobiedziska near Poznań, Łowicz and Bełchatów. The new plant will increase production capacity and improve service for clients in southern Poland.
Focus on sustainability and efficiency
– Thanks to the strategic location next to the A4 motorway, we will shorten transport routes, which will translate into more efficient logistics and a reduction of the carbon footprint associated with deliveries – said Zbigniew Kaliciński, president of the management board of Baumit. The company also recently strengthened its product portfolio by acquiring 100 percent of shares in MasterMas, a specialist in ready-to-use putty compounds.
The Baumit brand is present in 21 European countries and is known for insulation systems, machine plasters and materials for historic building renovation. The new facility will further consolidate the company’s position in the Polish market.
