Baumit builds fourth factory in Poland, 100 million zloty investment near A4 highway

Austrian-owned construction materials giant Baumit is building its fourth factory in Poland, a 100 million zloty investment located in Zimna Wódka, Opole province, right next to the A4 motorway. The plant is expected to start production in the second quarter of 2027 and will supply the southern Polish market with plasters, adhesives, mortars, and concrete.

The new facility, supported by the Katowice Special Economic Zone, covers 5,000 square meters of production and warehouse space. The reinforced concrete frame of the main hall is already finished, and work is underway on a fire separation wall, a fire water tank, and a 9.5-meter technological tower, which is about 80 percent complete.

Baumit currently operates plants in Pobiedziska, Łowicz, and Bełchatów. The company, part of Austria’s Schmid Industrie Holding, sells its products across 21 European countries and specializes in insulation systems, machine-applied plasters, and historic building renovation materials.

Construction milestones achieved

According to Tomasz Kaps, plant manager for the Zimna Wódka site, the completion of the main hall frame and the start of the tower installation are key milestones. He confirmed that all work is proceeding on schedule and that the factory will be operational in the second quarter of 2027.

– Completion of the main hall construction and the start of the technological tower assembly are among the most important milestones of this investment – said Tomasz Kaps, plant manager at Baumit Zimna Wódka.

The factory will feature fully automated, low-emission production lines. Among the products to be made there are facade plasters and paints, tile adhesives, leveling compounds, machine plasters, screeds, masonry mortars, and concretes.

Focus on automation and emissions

Baumit is equipping the new plant with state-of-the-art machinery designed to reduce energy consumption and carbon footprint. The company aims to improve production capacity while maintaining environmental standards.

The investment also includes a recent acquisition: Baumit bought 100 percent of shares in MasterMas, a company specializing in ready-mixed spackling compounds, strengthening its product portfolio.

Strategic location and market expansion

The choice of Zimna Wódka, near the A4 motorway, is deliberate. The location allows faster and shorter transport routes to customers in southern Poland, cutting logistics costs and lowering carbon emissions from deliveries.

– The new plant will boost our production capacity and allow us to serve customers in southern Poland more efficiently. Thanks to the strategic location next to the A4 motorway, we will shorten transport routes, which will translate into both smoother logistics and a reduction in the carbon footprint associated with deliveries – said Zbigniew Kaliciński, CEO of Baumit.

Work on the raw materials storage area is also advanced. The company expects to hire local workers and contribute to the regional economy once the factory is fully operational.
