Wizz air launches ai-powered holiday platform, challenging traditional tour operators

Wizz Air has announced the launch of Wizz Holidays, an artificial intelligence-powered platform that allows passengers to build custom holiday packages by combining flights, hotels, transfers and local excursions. The Hungarian low-cost carrier unveiled the tool in Rome, positioning it as a direct alternative to traditional tour operators that dominate the Polish market.

Unlike standard package deals offered by travel agencies, Wizz Holidays lets users mix and match travel components. Travelers can choose their own flights, accommodation, ground transportation and even plan multi-city itineraries across different countries. The platform is designed to offer flexibility that traditional tour operators often lack, especially for trips involving several destinations.

Wizz Air is the second largest airline in Poland by passenger numbers, after Ryanair and ahead of LOT Polish Airlines. The carrier currently operates 233 routes from Poland to 33 countries. On Wednesday, it also announced new connections from Poland to Egypt, including flights from Warsaw-Modlin, Gdańsk, Katowice and Kraków, set to begin in October 2026.

A dynamic package builder with ai at its core

The Wizz Holidays platform, available on the airline’s website and mobile app, uses advanced artificial intelligence to allow customers to combine flights, hotels and ground transfers. The system is intended to provide an alternative to rigid holiday packages sold by tour operators. According to the airline, users will be able to create multi-city trips and combine different modes of transport without manually coordinating each connection.

– Our main business is flying, that’s where we are experts. So we provide the flights, but we work with an external partner who handles the technical side, hotels, transfers and everything else – explained Silvia Mosquera, chief commercial officer at Wizz Air.

The carrier stressed that Wizz Holidays is not a revival of Wizz Tours, its former online travel agency that was shut down six years ago. That was a classic package tour provider. Wizz Holidays is more flexible – users build their own trips and the platform creates dynamic packages – added Mosquera.

Ai integration and customer protection

Wizz Air decided to capitalize on the growing role of artificial intelligence in travel planning. – Users increasingly turn to tools like ChatGPT, Gemini or Copilot, so Wizz Holidays should also be integrated with such search and recommendation methods – said Andras Rado, corporate communications manager at Wizz Air.

The airline partners with an external provider that handles the entire transaction and takes responsibility for the package. – We have a separate call center number and the operation is different from standard flight bookings. Customers get protection similar to that offered by a regular tour operator. Our supplier takes responsibility for every stage of the trip – assured Mosquera.

Wizz Holidays will be available in all countries where Wizz Air currently operates. The carrier’s fleet consists of 257 Airbus A320 and A321 family aircraft, nearly two-thirds of which are the more fuel-efficient A321neo variant. The company is listed on the London Stock Exchange.
