Ukrainians strike at nearly a thousand kilometers, hitting a factory and refinery

Ukrainian forces struck targets nearly a thousand kilometers from the border, hitting a weapons factory in Cheboksary and an oil refinery in the Samara region. President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed the use of long-range Flamingo missiles and drones in the overnight operation, which also damaged a tanker in the Black Sea.

In a Telegram post, President Zelensky said: – We continue to apply Ukrainian long-range sanctions against Russian military facilities and the oil sector. Last night, Ukrainian FP-5 Flamingo missiles hit the weapons plant in Cheboksary, which supplies the occupier army with components for drones and missiles. I thank the Armed Forces of Ukraine for their accuracy! – powiedział prezydent Ukrainy Wołodymyr Zełenski.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed the attack on the VNIIR-Progress plant in Cheboksary, located in the Chuvash Republic. – A hit on the target and a fire on the plant’s premises have been confirmed. The distance from the nearest active combat zone in Ukraine to the facility is over 900 kilometers – the General Staff stated. The plant is a key producer of navigation equipment for Russian precision weapons, including satellite navigation receivers and Kometa antennas used in Shahed drones, Kalibr cruise missiles, Iskander-M systems, and bomb guidance modules.

Coordinated strikes on oil infrastructure

Zelensky also reported that the Special Operations Forces, Unmanned Systems Forces, and military intelligence (HUR) struck the Kuybyshev refinery in the Samara region, more than 900 kilometers from the front line. Additionally, the SBU targeted two oil infrastructure facilities in the Vladimir region, 700 kilometers away. – The SBU’s response also reached two oil infrastructure facilities in the Vladimir region, located 700 kilometers away – Zelensky added. These strikes are part of Ukraine’s strategy to degrade Russia’s energy sector, which finances its war efforts.

Black Sea tanker damaged

The General Staff further reported that the tanker WEST Horizon, part of Russia’s shadow fleet used to evade international sanctions, was hit in the Black Sea. – The damage to the vessel’s propeller-rudder system has been confirmed – the General Staff said. The tanker regularly transports Russian oil and petroleum products, bypassing restrictions. This attack disrupts one of the key logistics chains for Russia’s oil exports. The WEST Horizon is one of many vessels in Russia’s shadow fleet, often older tankers with opaque ownership, used to ship oil despite price caps and embargoes.

The strikes demonstrate Ukraine’s increasing range and precision, using domestically developed weapons systems such as the Flamingo missile. The VNIIR-Progress plant is critical for the production of navigation components that guide Russian missiles and drones, making it a high-value target. The simultaneous attacks on military production, oil infrastructure, and maritime assets highlight the coordinated nature of Ukraine’s long-range campaign.
