Three Poles die in nightmarish Czech motorway crash after wild boar collision

A father and his son are now in a Czech hospital after a highway crash that killed three Polish citizens. The victims were a mother, her son and a family friend.

The fatal collision happened on the D52 motorway near Pohořelice in the south of the Czech Republic, between Friday night and Saturday morning. Police confirmed that three people died and two were injured.

Czech portal novinky.cz reported that the chain of events began when one vehicle, travelling towards Brno, collided with wild boars and stopped. A second car then stopped behind it. Another vehicle crashed into the stationary cars, triggering the tragedy.

Chain collision on the way to Brno

Those killed were two women and a child. The child died after being taken to hospital. The survivors, a man and another child, were also Polish and were admitted to a medical facility.

The family and friends of the victims launched an online fundraiser. The money raised is meant to transport the bodies of the deceased to Poland, arrange the funeral, and cover treatment, rehabilitation and daily living costs for the father and the son who survived.

The worst possible outcome

– A horrific road accident happened on the night of 31.07 to 01.08 on the Czech motorway. In the car were a family of four, a family friend and a dog. Unfortunately, this is the worst possible outcome – wrote the organisers of the fundraiser.

– Father, Marcin, and the other son, Tymek, survived but suffered serious injuries. They are currently in a hospital in the Czech Republic, fighting to recover, both physically and mentally – added the organisers.

– In one moment Marcin lost his beloved wife and child, and young Tymek lost his mom and brother. The world they knew shattered into pieces. Instead of shared plans and everyday joy, unimaginable pain, trauma and huge organisational and financial challenges appeared – explained the organisers.
