Ekstraklasa, via Live Park, has signed a multi-year cooperation agreement with the technology company Hawk-Eye Innovations, part of the Sony Group. The partnership will bring modern solutions used in world football to Polish stadiums starting from the 2026/27 season, including semi-automated offside technology.
The project will launch in late autumn and the implemented systems will also be integrated with the VAR system used by the Polish Football Association (PZPN). All cameras, hardware and data processing infrastructure will be installed on the pitches of PKO Bank Polski Ekstraklasa.
– This is a very important investment decision made by the Ekstraklasa clubs. Continuous technological development is one of our strategic priorities, which we have been consistently implementing in various areas of our activity for years. However, the pace of progress in this field is enormous – said Marcin Animucki, president of Ekstraklasa.
What Hawk-Eye will bring to Polish stadiums
The project involves the deployment of the Hawk-Eye SkeleTRACK system on all Ekstraklasa stadiums. This system will track the position of players and the ball in real time, then provide advanced data to clubs and media partners. Key information and analyses will be presented via the Hawk-Eye Data Analytics Platform.
The system will be complemented by an AI-based automated tactical camera that delivers uninterrupted 4K footage designed for detailed tactical analysis. The combination of both solutions will give Ekstraklasa clubs access to performance data and player analytics.
Benefits for clubs and viewers
Selected statistics and visualizations may also be used during television broadcasts and in the league’s communication channels as supplementary materials. – Through cooperation with Hawk-Eye, we are once again introducing the most modern solutions used in football at the highest world level into the Polish league. These technologies will support the sports development of Ekstraklasa clubs, while increasing the attractiveness of matches and television broadcasts for broadcasters and fans – added Animucki.
The deal marks a significant step in the digitization of Polish top-tier football, bringing it closer to standards seen in top European leagues such as the Premier League, La Liga or Serie A, where Hawk-Eye technology has been operating for years.
