Strabag acquires Polish steel construction specialist Cermont

Strabag, one of Europe’s leading construction groups, has finalised the acquisition of Cermont, a Polish family-owned company specialising in steel structures and general contracting. The deal, announced on 6 July 2026, strengthens Strabag’s technological and operational capabilities in Poland’s industrial, logistics and infrastructure segments.

Cermont, based in Wola Krzysztoporska near Piotrków Trybunalski, operates both as a general contractor and a manufacturer of steel structures. The company offers comprehensive services including design, prefabrication, corrosion protection, transport and assembly. Its portfolio covers industrial, logistics, commercial and infrastructure projects.

This acquisition follows last year’s purchase of Zaberd, a road maintenance leader. Both transactions align with Strabag’s long-term strategy to build specialist execution competences, increase operational resilience and gain a larger share in the most promising construction and production market segments.

Strategic value of the deal

– The purchase of Cermont is another step in the consistent implementation of our development and investment strategy in Poland – said Wojciech Trojanowski, member of the Strabag management board. – Both transactions strengthen our technological and operational competences and fit into the long-term development strategy of Strabag in Poland, focused on building specialist execution competences, increasing operational resilience and increasing our share in the most perspective segments of the construction and production market.

– For Cermont, joining one of the global leaders in the construction market is confirmation of our competences, experience and quality of projects we have consistently built over the years – said Damian Cieślik, member of the Cermont management board. – We believe this integration will create new development opportunities and allow us to implement ambitious engineering projects even more effectively, while strengthening our market position.

A key element of the transaction is Cermont’s qualification certificate for steel bridge structures, opening new possibilities in road and railway infrastructure. The company’s modern production base spans about 7,000 square metres and includes six production lines operating on a three-shift system, with a monthly capacity of up to 1,000 tonnes of steel structures. The plant is equipped with advanced CNC machines, automated metal processing devices, a blasting and painting facility, a welding laboratory and an integrated logistics system.

Enhanced control and quality

Strabag expects the integration to increase its own share of steel construction competences, secure access to key production capacities and reduce exposure to price volatility and availability of steel-related services. The transaction should also improve control over quality, timeliness and costs of projects – particularly important for large and complex investments.

Cermont holds essential certifications, including factory production control for steel structures, welding certificates and a quality management system in welding. The company operates its own ERP system for real-time monitoring of production processes and project progress. It also employs its own assembly teams, allowing full-cycle execution from documentation to delivery and on-site installation.
