Polish chemical group Qemetica is entering Australia through a new subsidiary set up by its agricultural division. The first deliveries of crop protection products to the Antipodes are planned for 2027.
Qemetica Agricultural Solutions, controlled by Sebastian Kulczyk, is opening a company in Australia to develop sales markets on that continent as well as in Asia and the Pacific region. The agro business has been gaining momentum and is one of the pillars of the group’s international development.
– We are already present in about 40 countries. We are opening a new chapter by entering a new continent – said Kamil Majczyk, president of Qemetica.
Australian market with room for growth
According to Puls Biznesu, QAS will deliver more than one thousand tonnes of plant protection products to the Antipodes in 2027. Market observers call Australia a very promising, large and absorbent market, with yearly growth reaching several dozen percent.
Crops occupy around 30 million hectares in Australia, and roughly 70 percent of the harvest is exported. Farms across the country typically cover several thousand hectares, which gives suppliers access to large-scale customers.
– Australia is a growing agricultural market where we can use our competencies in building long-term relationships with local distributors. It is an attractive supply direction for us and a natural hub for Asian and Pacific markets – said Edgardo Iglesias, head of Qemetica Agricultural Solutions.
Polish production and new formulations
The crop protection products offered by Qemetica are produced at the Nowa Sarzyna plant in Poland, which serves as the manufacturing base for the international range. The portfolio covers more than 150 brands, including herbicides, fungicides, insecticides, growth regulators and seed dressings.
One of the most important new products in recent years is Halvetic, based on the patented BGT (Better Glyphosate Technology). The formulation combines low doses of glyphosate with auxiliary substances.
