Qemetica Agricultural Solutions, the agricultural arm of Polish industrial group Qemetica controlled by Sebastian Kulczyk, has opened a subsidiary in Australia. The company wants to use it to build new markets for crop protection products in Australia, Asia and the Pacific, with first deliveries planned for 2027.
The Polish group already sells its products in around 40 countries, and the agriculture business has become one of the pillars of its international growth. Qemetica CEO Kamil Majczyk sees the Australian operation as the start of a new chapter.
– Our agro business is gaining momentum and is one of the pillars of the group’s international development. We are opening a new chapter, entering a new continent – said Qemetica CEO Kamil Majczyk.
A large and fast-growing export market
According to Puls Biznesu, the first Australian deliveries in 2027 are set to exceed 1,000 tonnes of crop protection products. Experts assess the market as highly promising, large and absorbent, with annual growth of several dozen percent.
Australia has around 30 million hectares of farmland. About 70 percent of the harvest is exported, and the farming structure is dominated by holdings of several thousand hectares each.
– Australia is a growing agricultural market where we can use our competences in building long-term relationships with local distributors. It is an attractive supply direction for us, but also a natural hub for the markets of Asia and the Pacific – commented Edgardo Iglesias, head of Qemetica Agricultural Solutions.
Nowa Sarzyna and modern formulations
Qemetica Agricultural Solutions manufactures crop protection products in Poland at its plant in Nowa Sarzyna. The portfolio covers more than 150 brands, including herbicides, fungicides, insecticides, growth regulators and seed treatments.
One of the key new products in the range is Halvetic, which uses the patented BGT (Better Glyphosate Technology). It combines low doses of glyphosate with auxiliary substances.
