PSE places order with Polish companies worth over PLN 445 million

Polskie Sieci Elektroenergetyczne (PSE), the Polish transmission system operator, has signed a framework agreement with two domestic companies for the supply of over 13,000 km of phase conductors for extra-high voltage lines. The total value of the contract is PLN 362 million net (PLN 445.4 million gross), with deliveries planned between 2026 and 2031.

The order was placed with NPA Skawina, part of the Boryszew Group, and Fabryka Przewodów Energetycznych in Będzin. The tenders were selected in a public procurement procedure, PSE announced in a statement.

– Cooperation with domestic producers fits into the philosophy of maximising local content and building the country’s economic security. By shortening supply chains, we will reduce risks related to the delivery of components necessary for the development of the transmission system – said Włodzimierz Mucha, vice-president of PSE for investments.

Key projects supported by the contract

The conductors are planned to be used in nine investment projects run by PSE. These include new 400 kV lines evacuating power from the planned nuclear power plant to a new substation near the Tri-City, a new line from the Tri-City area to Grudziądz, the modernisation of the 400 kV Gdańsk Błonia-Olsztyn Mątki line, and the construction of one of the lines from the Choczewo substation, which will receive power from offshore wind farms.

The estimated total value of orders to be executed by NPA Skawina under the framework agreement is approximately PLN 250 million net.

Strategic importance for Polish industry

The concluded agreement will enable the Boryszew Group to further develop its competencies in conductor production. The contract is in line with the Boryszew Group’s strategy for 2025–2029, which assumes, among other things, the development of production capacity and expertise in the production of aluminium conductors, the company stated in a separate announcement.

Boryszew Group’s consolidated revenue in 2025 amounted to PLN 4.84 billion, a decrease of 5.5% compared to 2024. The group’s net profit stood at PLN 35 million, a 71% drop year-on-year. In the first quarter of the current year, revenue fell by 4.8% year-on-year to PLN 1.275 billion, but profitability and EBITDA improved. The company pointed to cost pressure in Europe and opportunities in electromobility and the defence industry.

Local content as a pillar of energy security

PSE’s decision to source key components domestically underscores the growing importance of local supply chains in Poland’s energy transition. By relying on Polish manufacturers, the operator aims to reduce dependency on imports and mitigate geopolitical risks. The framework agreement is one of the largest ever signed by PSE with domestic suppliers for high-voltage conductor deliveries.
