The Mazovian Voivode has issued building permits for two airport fire and rescue stations as part of the Port Polska program. The facilities will be responsible for the safety of the future airport and ensure efficient rescue operations across its entire area.
The main fire station will be built in the village of Skrzelew, in the Teresin municipality. From this location, teams will secure the northern runway and adjacent flight areas. The building will also support rapid restoration of operational readiness after interventions and assist the satellite station.
The two-storey structure will have a usable area of nearly 5,300 square meters. The second station will be located in the Wiskitki municipality, between the villages of Duninopol and Podbuszyce. Its task will be to protect the southern runway and initiate immediate rescue actions until reinforcements arrive from the main station. This building, also two-storey, will have a usable area exceeding 2,100 square meters.
Key details of the fire stations
The investment covers not only the construction of the stations but also all necessary technical infrastructure, internal and external installations, building equipment, and land development. As a result, both facilities will be able to operate as fully equipped rescue centres from the moment they open.
Each station will house teams of the airport fire and rescue service responsible for responding to aviation accidents and incidents. The project is designed to allow specialised rescue vehicles with a full crew to depart in the shortest possible time after an alarm is raised.
Safety and operational readiness
– These fire stations are a key element of the airport’s safety system. Thanks to them, we can guarantee a rapid response in any emergency situation – said Jan Nowak, spokesman for Port Polska.
The new facilities will significantly enhance the airport’s operational resilience. They will be equipped with modern firefighting equipment and communication systems, enabling coordinated action across the entire port area.
The permits mark another important milestone in the development of Port Polska. The project is part of the broader Centralny Port Komunikacyjny (CPK) programme, which aims to create a major transport hub in central Poland.
