Polish renewable energy contractor wins first contract in Romania

Grupa Onde, a Polish general contractor and developer of renewable energy installations, has signed its first contract in Romania. The deal, worth approximately 36.8 million PLN (8.5 million euros), covers the construction of a wind farm in the country. The company already operates in Germany, Lithuania, and Latvia.

The contract includes comprehensive design, supply, and construction works for a wind farm located in Romania. The scope involves building foundations for wind turbines, access roads, assembly yards, and medium-voltage infrastructure. The project is scheduled for execution between 2026 and 2028. The investor is a Romanian special-purpose vehicle owned by a Western European renewable energy company.

Scope of the agreement

Under the terms of the contract, Onde will be responsible for all construction and electrical works related to the wind farm. This includes the erection of turbine foundations, which are critical for the stability and performance of the turbines, as well as the construction of internal roads and assembly areas. The medium-voltage network will connect the turbines to the grid. The total value of the contract is 36.8 million PLN.

Onde has extensive experience in the renewable energy sector, having completed over 450 projects with a combined capacity exceeding 6 GW. These projects include wind farms, photovoltaic installations, and battery energy storage systems. The company is listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.

Strategic expansion into Romania

– This first wind farm contract in Romania is an important step for the group’s development outside Poland. We have already secured contracts in Germany, Lithuania, and Latvia. Romania, with its dynamically growing supply of wind projects and a transparent support system through CfD auctions, is particularly attractive to us. We hope this contract will be the first of many in this country – said Bartosz Sobolewski, vice-president of Onde.

The Romanian renewable energy market has been growing rapidly in recent years, driven by EU climate targets and national support mechanisms. The Contracts for Difference (CfD) scheme provides stable revenues for producers, encouraging investment in new capacity. Poland’s renewable energy contractors are increasingly looking abroad as domestic competition intensifies and project pipelines expand in neighboring regions.

Onde’s entry into Romania marks another milestone in the internationalization of Polish renewable energy services. The company now has a foothold in four European countries and aims to further expand its presence in Central and Eastern Europe. The wind farm project in Romania is expected to create local jobs and contribute to the country’s green energy transition.
