Polish mining machinery manufacturer appoints new vice president

Patentus, a Polish manufacturer of mining machinery and steel structures, has named Łukasz Duda as its new vice president. The appointment, effective June 26, 2026, comes as the company faces a sharp downturn in revenue and a net loss in the first quarter of the year. Duda previously served on the supervisory board and worked as a sales representative for the firm.

The company’s supervisory board also set the management board at three members. The current board consists of Józef Duda as president, with Łukasz Duda and Tomasz Duda serving as vice presidents.

Łukasz Duda is a graduate of the Academy of Economics in Katowice, where he specialized in domestic and international distribution and sales. He first served on the supervisory board of Patentus from 2006 to 2009, and was reappointed in 2014. He held that role until June 11, 2026. Then, on November 6, 2019, he joined the company as a sales representative, a position he held until his elevation to the board.

Financial challenges hit the company hard

Patentus reported consolidated sales revenue of PLN 9.5 million for the first quarter of 2026, down 71.84% compared to PLN 33.8 million in the same period of 2025. The net loss for the period reached PLN 5.6 million, a sharp reversal from the PLN 6.9 million profit posted a year earlier.

– The result was a consequence of a limited number of orders being executed – the company stated in its periodic report, pointing to market factors as the main cause of the downturn.

A family-led firm braces for tougher times

Patentus specializes in producing mining machinery, metal processing, and manufacturing steel structures for various applications. Its headquarters are located in Pszczyna, Silesia. The company’s shares are listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange under the ticker PAT.

The appointment of Łukasz Duda, who has both supervisory and commercial experience within the firm, signals an effort to stabilize management as the company navigates a weak market environment. The mining sector in Poland has been under pressure from declining coal demand and regulatory changes, which directly impacts orders for equipment.

What lies ahead for Patentus

Given the current market headwinds, the new vice president will face the challenge of rebuilding the order book and returning the company to profitability. The board will need to focus on cost control and possibly diversification, as the long-term outlook for traditional mining machinery remains uncertain.

The company’s stock has been volatile, reflecting investor concerns about the sector’s future. However, Patentus may benefit from modernization projects in Polish mines and potential export contracts.
