AB Kauno tiltai, a Lithuanian subsidiary of the Polish infrastructure group Trakcja, has secured a contract with Via Lietuva, Lithuania’s national road authority, for the renovation of a section of the A1 motorway linking Vilnius, Kaunas and Klaipėda. The deal covers project preparation and construction works on a key stretch of one of the country’s most important transport corridors.
The agreement involves renovation of the right lane from km 116.901 to km 152.882 and the left lane from km 146.165 to km 147.90 on the A1 motorway. The project is part of ongoing efforts by Lithuanian authorities to upgrade the main road artery connecting the capital Vilnius with the Baltic Sea port of Klaipėda via Kaunas.
Trakcja Group reported consolidated sales revenue of PLN 324.8 million in the first quarter of 2026, compared to PLN 301.9 million in the same period of 2025. According to the company, this was the highest quarterly revenue over the last three years (2024-2026). Despite the revenue growth, the group recorded an operating loss of PLN 4.0 million, which was a significant improvement from the PLN 13.9 million loss a year earlier.
Tighter results amid cost pressure
The net loss attributable to shareholders stood at PLN 7.0 million in Q1 2026, against PLN 10.0 million in Q1 2025. Management attributed the narrower losses to better project execution and cost control, though the market environment remained challenging. The group pointed to ongoing cost pressure and demanding conditions in the infrastructure construction sector as key headwinds.
Shares of Trakcja (TRK) closed at PLN 3.30 on the Warsaw Stock Exchange on Friday, up 2.01% during the session, reflecting investor optimism following the announcement. The stock traded in a range of PLN 3.21 to PLN 3.32 during the day.
Strategic expansion in the Baltics
AB Kauno tiltai has been active in the Lithuanian road construction market for years, and this new contract strengthens Trakcja’s presence in the Baltic region. The A1 motorway is a vital logistics route for both passenger and freight traffic, and its renovation is expected to improve transport efficiency and road safety.
The contract with Via Lietuva comes at a time when Lithuania is accelerating infrastructure investments, partly financed by European Union funds. For Trakcja, the project provides a steady workload and supports the group’s strategy to diversify geographically beyond Poland, where competition and margin pressure remain high.
Analysts note that while the group is still operating at a loss, the trend is clearly improving, and a profitable year may be within reach if cost pressures ease and the contract pipeline remains robust. The Lithuanian order adds to Trakcja’s backlog and reinforces the group’s reputation as a reliable partner for complex infrastructure projects in Central and Eastern Europe.
