B-Act, a Polish engineering and construction company, has signed a contract with the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways (GDDKiA) to act as contract engineer and supervisor for the construction of a 23.4 km section of the S6 expressway between Police and Goleniów. The deal, worth PLN 35.6 million gross, is the largest contract in the company’s history.
The investment is part of the Zachodnia Obwodnica Szczecina (Western Bypass of Szczecin) and includes the construction of a 5 km tunnel under the Odra River. Once completed, it will be the longest road tunnel in Poland. The project aims to relieve transit traffic through Szczecin and improve transport accessibility in the West Pomeranian region.
The contract is being executed by a consortium led by B-Act, which combines the international Swiss know-how of ARX Group with the Polish experience of Transprojekt Gdański and Przedsiębiorstwo Usług Inwestycyjnych Eko-Inwest. The contract period ranges from 105 to 129 months.
A record-breaking tunnel and a milestone for B-Act
– Signing this agreement is a milestone in B-Act’s history. It is our largest contract ever, worth over PLN 35.6 million gross. Over the years, we have built our competencies and reference portfolio to be able to undertake projects of this scale. Participating in the construction of the longest road tunnel in Poland, as the contract engineer and consortium leader, is a huge honour for us – said Adam Białachowski, president of B-Act.
The contract is being carried out under FIDIC conditions, the international standard for managing infrastructure projects. According to Białachowski, this opens the door to further prestigious tenders of similar scale, both domestically and abroad. – A contract worth over PLN 35 million with a long implementation horizon significantly strengthens the company’s revenue foundations. For us, it means long-term growth in recognition and access to the largest contracts in the country. Today, we have reached the point where, as the consortium leader, we can build an international team that will supervise the most complex infrastructure projects in Poland – he added.
Strategic importance for the region
The project covers section No. 3 of the Western Bypass of Szczecin, one of Poland’s priority infrastructure initiatives. It connects Police with Goleniów, completing the ring road around the Szczecin agglomeration. The investment is crucial for reducing transit traffic through the city and enhancing connectivity across West Pomerania.
B-Act, based in Bydgoszcz, is an engineering and consulting company specializing in project management and construction dispute resolution. The company has previously executed contracts in Poland, Ukraine, Romania, the Baltic states, South America, and the Middle East.
