Polish company ML System has contracted the supply of BIPV modules for the Oslo Spektrum tower, one of the most recognizable landmarks in the Norwegian capital. The new building will reach 108 meters in height and will have 27 floors.
The contract covers photovoltaic modules integrated with the building envelope, known as building-integrated photovoltaics (BIPV). The object will feature a modular double-skin facade with curved corner elements. ML System modules will be integrated directly into the Wicona facade system from the Hydro Group, made of low-carbon recycled aluminum alloy Hydro CIRCAL 75R.
The project is a joint venture between Aspelin Ramm and Oslo Spektrum, carried out with general contractor HENT AS and subcontractors: Staticus, responsible for the facade, and Solenergi FUSen AS, responsible for the photovoltaic installation.
Reference building in a prestigious location
– The Oslo project is a result of references gained by ML System in earlier high-rise building projects. We have already delivered BIPV solutions to the HAUT residential building in Amsterdam, a sixteen-story apartment building in Helsinki, and the Artery office complex in Vilnius. We are also developing activities in Europe, supplying BIPV modules in the double-skin facade formula for the DC2 tower in Vienna, which reaches 174 meters – said Dawid Cycoń, vice-president of ML System.
Oslo Spektrum is one of the first examples of BIPV module application in a high-rise building in the Norwegian capital. The project demonstrates the growing importance of building-integrated photovoltaics in both public and private investments.
Financial results on the rise
ML System’s order portfolio for standardized products as of July 2, 2026 totaled 54,000 sqm of area. Of this, about 17,000 sqm concerned planned deliveries of PhotonRoof photovoltaic tiles under a conditional agreement with a European distributor.
The company’s revenue in the first quarter of 2026 was PLN 34.8 million, compared to PLN 18.3 million in the same period of 2025. The net loss for the first quarter of 2026 was PLN 6.4 million, significantly lower than the PLN 17.3 million loss recorded a year earlier.
