Polish aluminium giant grupa kęty hits record high, outperforming orlen

Grupa Kęty, the Polish aluminium processing group, saw its shares hit an all-time high of 1,349 złoty on Thursday morning, pushing its market cap above 13 billion złoty for the first time. The stock later corrected to close at 1,322 zł, but the session marked a milestone for the company, which has gained 45 percent since the start of 2026.

While most attention on the Warsaw Stock Exchange has been focused on Orlen’s record-breaking rally, Grupa Kęty has quietly been setting its own milestones. The company now ranks 18th in the WIG20 index by market value, and its two-year return exceeds 80 percent. The rally is supported by strong financial performance: in the second quarter of 2026, net profit jumped to 234 million złoty from 170 million a year earlier.

Record results and international expansion

The group, which operates through 22 subsidiaries in three segments – extruded products, aluminium systems, and flexible packaging – has been benefiting from robust sales despite a sluggish European economy. Capacity utilisation has stayed above 90 percent, allowing the company to convert high demand into earnings.

On Thursday, Grupa Kęty announced the establishment of a new French subsidiary, Aluprof France, and the build-up of local sales structures. The French market is seen as a key growth driver for the coming years. – We chose this market deliberately: large, mature, with clear regulatory frameworks for building energy efficiency that reward suppliers with a documented carbon footprint – said Roman Przybylski, CEO of Grupa Kęty.

The company’s international ambitions are also reflected in its inclusion in the STOXX Europe 600 index, which groups the 600 largest listed companies in Europe. Under its 2025-2029 strategy, Grupa Kęty targets revenue of 7.75 billion złoty and aims to derive 54 percent of sales from foreign markets, up from current levels. Foreign markets are expected to contribute 1.7 billion złoty in new sales over the period.

Challenges and future outlook

Despite the upbeat performance, management remains cautious. The company noted persistent uncertainty caused by the conflict between the U.S., Israel, and Iran, as well as disruptions in supply chains due to the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz. However, Grupa Kęty has so far managed to maintain high sales volumes and profitability.

The shareholder structure is dominated by Polish open-end pension funds (OFE), which collectively hold over 52 percent of the shares. The five largest shareholders are all OFEs, providing a stable base of long-term investors. With the stock at record levels and the company executing on its international strategy, Grupa Kęty appears well-positioned to continue its upward trajectory.
