Polimex Mostostal ousts CEO, stock market reacts

The supervisory board of Polimex Mostostal has dismissed Jakub Stypuła from the position of CEO, effective July 2, 2026. Board member Piotr Andrusiewicz has been delegated to temporarily perform the duties of the president for up to three months. The company’s share price on the Warsaw Stock Exchange initially dropped nearly 7% before partially recovering.

The decision comes amid a broader reshuffle at the Polish construction group. In mid-June 2026, the general meeting overhauled the supervisory board, removing six members and appointing new ones linked to major state-owned energy companies. Among the new appointees are Piotr Andrusiewicz (CEO of Enea Wytwarzanie and Enea Elektrownia Połaniec), Grzegorz Kinelski (CEO of Enea), and Dariusz Lubera (CEO of PGE).

Polimex Mostostal’s financial results for the first quarter of 2026 show a decline in net profit from PLN 27.45 million in Q1 2025 to PLN 19.92 million, a drop of 27.4%. Operating profit fell by 22%, while revenues were almost flat at PLN 861.25 million, down slightly from PLN 875 million a year earlier.

Energy sector tightening grip on Polimex

The changes at the top reflect the dominant position of state-controlled energy groups in Polimex’s shareholder structure. Enea, PGE, Orlen Technologie and Energa together hold 63.48% of the company’s shares. The appointment of executives from these firms to the supervisory board indicates a stronger alignment with strategic energy projects.

Just days before his dismissal, Jakub Stypuła told WNP that the company was actively seeking projects in Ukraine. – We are very close to starting the implementation of the first projects – he said, referring to energy and petrochemical ventures with secured financing.

Stock market reacts with volatility

On the day of the announcement, the share price of Polimex Mostostal fell by almost 7% in intraday trading, before paring losses. At the close of the session on July 1, 2026, the stock was down 2.79%, settling at PLN 7.49. The daily trading range was wide, from a low of PLN 7.10 to a high of PLN 7.66.

Piotr Andrusiewicz, the interim CEO, has been a board member of Polimex since June 2026 and concurrently serves as CEO of Enea Wytwarzanie and Enea Elektrownia Połaniec. He is also a member of the management board of Towarzystwo Gospodarcze Polskie Elektrownie (TGPE).
