Polimex Mostostal launches search for new CEO and board members

Polish construction group Polimex Mostostal has officially launched qualification proceedings for a new CEO and vice presidents, following the dismissal of former CEO Jakub Stypuła on July 1. The supervisory board has expanded the management board to four members and set a July 28 deadline for applications.

The supervisory board appointed a special qualification team composed of board members to oversee the selection process. In a strategic move, the board decided to enlarge the management board to four people, prompting three separate qualification proceedings for the positions of president and vice presidents of the company.

Candidates must submit their applications by July 28, 2026, at 12:00 PM. Required documentation includes full name, correspondence address, phone number, email address, and a clear indication of which position or positions the candidate is applying for, along with all necessary attachments.

Until the competition is resolved, Piotr Andrusiewicz, a delegated member of the supervisory board, will serve as acting CEO. He was assigned this role for up to three months, starting July 2. Marzena Hebda-Sztandkie remains in her position as vice president for finance, ensuring continuity in financial management.

State ownership and financial results

Polimex Mostostal is controlled by state-owned energy companies: Enea, PGE, Orlen Technologie, and Energa, which together hold 63.48 percent of the company’s shares. This gives the Polish state significant influence over strategic decisions and leadership appointments.

In the first quarter of 2026, the company reported revenues of 861.25 million PLN, slightly down from 875 million PLN in the same period last year. Operating profit fell by 22 percent to 30.55 million PLN, while net profit dropped by 27.4 percent to 19.92 million PLN, reflecting growing financial pressure.

Transition timeline and next steps

The supervisory board dismissed Jakub Stypuła from the CEO position on July 1, effective July 2. Piotr Andrusiewicz was immediately delegated to temporarily perform the duties of CEO, preventing any leadership gap during the transition.

The expansion of the board to four members signals a strategic reassessment of the company’s management needs. The qualification proceedings aim to identify candidates capable of steering Polimex Mostostal through a period of financial strain and evolving market conditions in the Polish construction sector.

With state-controlled energy companies as majority shareholders, the selection process is expected to attract close attention from industry observers and financial markets. The new leadership team will face the challenge of reversing the downward profitability trend while operating under state ownership dynamics.
