Lubelski Węgiel Bogdanka, the city of Lublin and the municipality of Łęczna have signed a letter of intent to jointly develop an Investment Zone in Łęczna. The agreement aims to create attractive conditions for businesses, foster innovation and generate new jobs by combining the region’s industrial and administrative potential.
The initiative was originally launched by Bogdanka, the Łęczna commune and the Industrial Development Agency (ARP). The goal is to build a business-friendly environment that supports Polish industry and the implementation of cutting-edge solutions. The partnership runs for two years, during which the parties will carry out legal, organisational and analytical work to prepare the zone for investors.
Combining experience and industrial potential
Lublin, which already runs a successful subzone of the Euro-Park Mielec Special Economic Zone employing nearly 5,000 people, brings its know-how in preparing and servicing investment sites. The capital of the Lubelskie region will share its experience with Łęczna and Bogdanka, which offer industrial infrastructure and a skilled workforce.
– Bogdanka has been one of the most important employers and economic pillars of the Lubelszczyzna region for years. The Investment Zone in Łęczna is meant to leverage the area’s potential, attract new entrepreneurs and create long-term jobs. Cooperation on this project will allow us to use our partners’ experience in developing investment sites and effectively attracting investors. This is an important step towards responsible economic transformation of the region – said Zbigniew Stopa, CEO of Lubelski Węgiel Bogdanka.
– Lublin has been consistently building its position as an investor-friendly place. Now we want our experience and proven solutions to strengthen the competitiveness of the entire Lublin Metropolitan Area. By combining the potential of Lublin, the Łęczna commune and Bogdanka, we create an attractive offer for investors, support economic diversification and a just transition of the region. This is an investment in new jobs, the development of modern sectors and a stronger position of the Lublin agglomeration on the economic map of Poland and Europe – assured Krzysztof Żuk, mayor of Lublin.
Scope of cooperation and next steps
The partnership covers several key areas: analysing the potential of investment sites, identifying infrastructural and formal barriers, exchanging information about investor needs and market trends, and coordinating with institutions supporting investment development. The sides also plan working meetings, consultations, study visits and joint promotional activities.
– The agreement will allow us to use Lublin’s experience in creating and developing investment sites. The Lublin economic subzone has been a success and today provides jobs for nearly five thousand people. I hope that President Krzysztof Żuk, thanks to his knowledge and business contacts, will also be an ambassador for the Investment Zone in Łęczna and help present it as an attractive location for new investors – said Krzysztof Bojarski, MP of the Polish Sejm.
– By combining Lublin’s experience with the industrial potential of Bogdanka and Łęczna, we are creating a foundation for new investments that will strengthen the competitiveness of the entire region. Our goal is not only to prepare attractive investment sites, but above all to build a lasting economic ecosystem that will attract entrepreneurs and create high-quality jobs for the region’s inhabitants. The greatest capital of Lubelszczyzna is its people – their competences, experience and readiness to develop. Our task is to create conditions so that this potential can be fully utilised by new investors, and the region gains stable foundations for growth and economic resilience for decades to come – underlined Artur Wasilewski, deputy CEO for economic and financial affairs of Lubelski Węgiel Bogdanka.
– We gain another strong partner. The city of Lublin will support us with its huge know-how, experience and valuable business contacts. This is another, extremely important step on the path to creating an Investment Zone in the Łęczna commune – noted Leszek Włodarski, mayor of Łęczna.
The next stage involves detailed analyses concerning technical infrastructure, transport accessibility, spatial planning and the expectations of potential investors. The letter of intent does not end the preparation process but sets the framework for further joint action over the next two years.
