Kraków Airport, the largest regional airport in Poland, recorded 1,374,235 passengers in June 2026, a 16% increase year-on-year. With nearly 7 million travellers handled in the first half of the year, the ambitious target of 15 million passengers for 2026 appears fully achievable.
The airport’s management reports that the summer season is already exceeding expectations. Between January and June, the facility served 6,996,238 passengers, and forecasts for July and August suggest an additional 3 million travellers.
– We estimate that in July and August we may handle up to 3 million passengers combined – said Łukasz Strutyński, CEO of Kraków Airport.
Expanding network and new carriers
The summer flight schedule includes 172 connections to 118 cities in 38 countries. Among the new routes are LOT Polish Airlines services to Madrid, Barcelona, Rome and Gdańsk. Wizz Air has launched flights to Budapest, Venice and Rhodes, while Ryanair also added a Budapest connection.
A significant development is the arrival of Etihad Airways, which now offers a direct link to Abu Dhabi, further strengthening the airport’s long-haul offering and its position as a gateway for travellers from southern Poland.
Faster border checks and temporary passports
To improve passenger flow on non-Schengen departures, the Carpathian Border Guard unit activated five new biometric camera stations in June. These will reduce waiting times for flights to the United Kingdom, as well as to Arab states, Israel, Serbia, Turkey, Albania and Montenegro.
The airport also hosts a Temporary Passport Issuance Point operated by the Małopolskie Voivodeship Office. Since its launch in June 2024, around 6,000 single-use passports have been issued to passengers whose documents had expired, been lost or stolen. This service sees particularly high demand during the summer holiday period.
