Poland is losing its competitive edge as the global race for digital infrastructure accelerates, with industry leaders warning that the country is stuck at the starting line while France and Germany surge ahead. The pace of change in the data center and AI sector is so rapid that a single year now brings as much transformation as a decade in traditional manufacturing.
Without a robust digital backbone, Polish industry cannot improve efficiency or attract the high-tech investments needed to replace the fading advantage of cheap labor. Dominik Leszczyński, founder and CEO of DL Invest Group, made this clear during a meeting of the EEC Members community, the business leaders behind the European Economic Congress.
– Development of digital infrastructure in the area of data centers is a key and necessary condition to support the growth of the Polish economy – Leszczyński said. He argued that without a well-developed domestic digital infrastructure, Poland will fail to boost productivity, and to lure investments it needs government support similar to that seen in France.
Poland’s digital infrastructure lag
– This is a crucial moment for Europe and for Poland. Data centers are becoming critical infrastructure, the foundation of economic development and national security – Leszczyński added. He pointed to France’s proactive approach, which includes simplified decision-making paths, the appointment of an interministerial representative, and presidential-level lobbying for American investments.
– In two years, the digital infrastructure market has changed as much as industry does in two decades. We have to keep up with this insane pace. We must urgently start this race. France is leading, Germany is catching up effectively, we are standing in the starting blocks – said Leszczyński.
The race for AI and data centers
To enter the race, Poland needs coordinated government action and effective support. Leszczyński warned that if the country hesitates, the market will simply slip away. A large and strong economy like Poland attracts investors, but only if the right conditions are created.
Leszczyński noted that the sector’s extreme dynamism makes planning difficult. What we plan and order today may be at a completely different point in two years than we imagine. DL Invest Group intends to make digital infrastructure and data centers the main axis of its activities in the coming years.
– We need automation and robotization, and without digital infrastructure we will not move forward – Leszczyński concluded, stressing that the window of opportunity is closing fast.
