Interviews with candidates for the two most senior posts at PGE Energia Ciepła are set to begin on 23 September 2026, with a leadership decision expected before the month is out. The supervisory board is recruiting both a president and a vice-president for the heat and power arm of the PGE group.
The top job became vacant in early September 2026, when Grzegorz Krystek lost his position as president of PGE Energia Ciepła. Ten days into that month, on 11 September 2026, the company’s supervisory board answered with a formal competition covering the president and vice-president roles.
Applications were accepted until 21 September 2026. Two days later the board moves into the interview stage, sitting down with the people who put their names forward for both positions.
A tight recruitment calendar
The sequence of dates leaves little slack. Once the application window closed on 21 September 2026, the supervisory board scheduled the start of candidate interviews for 23 September 2026, meaning the new president of PGE Energia Ciepła should be known while September is still running.
Both vacancies are being filled through a single recruitment procedure, so the same round of talks covers the president and the vice-president. The board, rather than a shareholders’ meeting, is the body running the process.
Scale of the business waiting for a new boss
PGE Energia Ciepła belongs to the PGE group and ranks as the largest producer in Poland of electricity and heat generated through high-efficiency cogeneration. Its slice of the heat market supplied by cogeneration stands at roughly 25 per cent.
The production base consists of 16 combined heat and power plants, with a thermal capacity of 7.35 GWt and an electrical capacity of 2.70 GWe. Feeding those plants into consumers are district heating networks with a combined length of 721 km.
Heat from the company reaches residents of major Polish cities, including Kraków, Gdańsk, Gdynia, Wrocław, Rzeszów, Lublin, Bydgoszcz, Kielce and Szczecin. PGE Energia Ciepła is also active in Toruń, Zielona Góra, Gorzów Wielkopolski, Zgierz, Siechnice and Gryfino, where it additionally operates as a distributor of heat to end customers.
That footprint is what the incoming management team will take charge of once the supervisory board concludes its talks with the candidates and announces its choice.
