Maciej Górski, recently vice president of Poland’s largest utility PGE, has taken the helm at OX2 Polska. The Swedish renewable energy developer sees a perfect setup for accelerating its business in Poland’s rapidly evolving power market.
The appointment was announced on July 8, 2026. Górski, who was at PGE until August 2025 overseeing large-scale investments in offshore wind and energy storage, now leads the Polish subsidiary of OX2. The company operates across five European markets, including Poland, and in Australia, employing around 500 people from its headquarters in Stockholm.
– Maciej brings to OX2 immense experience in steering key entities of the Polish energy sector – said Matthias Taft, CEO of OX2. – His track record in delivering large-scale investments, managing IPP operations, and strategic planning makes him a perfect fit for the next phase of OX2’s growth.
A leader with private equity perspective
Górski previously served as Country Manager at Photon Energy in Poland, managing project development, operations, and commercial activities. His background also includes work with private equity funds, which he says will be valuable in the new role.
– I intend to leverage my years of industry and fund experience to build, over the next few years, a strong portfolio of flexible assets while introducing a new quality in their management – Górski explained.
Strategy backed by EQT and IPP transformation
OX2 is owned by global investment fund EQT, which provides financial stability. The company is also in the midst of transforming into an Independent Power Producer (IPP), meaning it will not only develop projects but own and operate them long-term.
– OX2 has an ideal configuration for dynamic growth right now: the stable backing of our owner EQT, plans to become an IPP, and a flexible approach to project development and acquisitions. This combination, in the face of new regulations, will allow us to compete effectively on the Polish power market – said Maciej Górski.
According to the company, Górski’s appointment marks a strategic move to strengthen its position in Poland, a key market for renewable energy development in Central Europe.
