Nowa Polska, a new political movement created by local government officials and entrepreneurs, puts economic pragmatism at the center of its program. Senator Zygmunt Frankiewicz, the party’s leader, argues that businesses do not need new subsidies but rather a stable and simple tax system that allows them to operate without constant interference.
Frankiewicz believes the current tax regulations have become overly complicated due to frequent changes in recent years. The party points to the Polish Deal (Polski Ład) as a source of numerous ambiguities and inconsistencies that hinder business operations.
– Taxes do not have to be lower, but they should be simple, predictable, and not changed too often – Frankiewicz told WNP, adding that he can list dozens of absurdities in the tax law.
He also warned about growing inequality in the system. – A sole proprietorship with its tax and social security contributions pays about 15 percent, while a person doing the same work as an employee can pay up to 48 percent. Tax money escapes, and injustices multiply – he said.
Tax simplicity over tax cuts
Nowa Polska advocates for a state that interferes less with business. – Entrepreneurs often say: we do not need support, just do not get in the way of running our business – Frankiewicz said.
The party also warns about the condition of public finances, with Frankiewicz arguing that Poland is heading toward excessive debt and that the lack of long-term reforms could lead to serious economic problems. He describes Nowa Polska as a liberal-conservative centrist movement built from the ground up, without a single dominant figure.
A warning on Poland’s EU membership
Frankiewicz also addressed foreign policy. He believes that Poland should pursue a more responsible and thoughtful international strategy. – Many people think it is impossible for Poland to leave the European Union, but it is easier than it seems. It would be enough for PiS and Konfederacja to win the election campaigning for leaving the EU – he warned.
He added that outside the Union and without strong alliances, Poland would become economically and politically weakened. The party presented its program document in Warsaw, focusing on healthcare, economy, local government, and security.
– We want to be above the divisions, to end the perpetual war where everything is opposed for the sake of opposition – Frankiewicz concluded.
