Modivo’s stock has surged over 30% from its May lows, returning above the 100 zł per share mark for the first time since early March. On Monday, the same day the price crossed this psychological threshold, a board member purchased a significant block of shares, signaling faith in the company’s recovery.
Karol Półtorak, vice president of the board at Modivo, acquired 4,500 ordinary shares on the regulated market of the Warsaw Stock Exchange on July 6, 2026, at an average price of 102.56 zł each. The transaction was worth approximately 461,500 zł. Following the purchase, Półtorak now holds 74,500 Modivo shares, with a market value of around 7.5 million zł.
The footwear and apparel company based in Polkowice appears to have put its worst period behind it. From the trough in early May, when the stock fell to about 71 zł – dragged down by weak quarterly results and short-selling funds – the valuation has climbed 34%. However, on a yearly basis, the stock still shows a decline of roughly 50%.
Insider buying: a vote of confidence
When a top executive purchases shares with their own money, it often sends a strong signal to the market. Półtorak’s decision to invest nearly half a million złoty into Modivo at a time of recent gains suggests he sees further upside. Insider transactions are closely watched by investors as they indicate management’s belief in the company’s strategic direction and intrinsic value.
Analysts are also cautiously optimistic. In mid-June, Sylwia Jaśkiewicz from DM BOŚ issued a price target of 136.9 zł per share for Modivo, implying a potential upside of more than 30% from current levels.
– Modivo has potential to rise to 136.9 zł per share – said Sylwia Jaśkiewicz, analyst at DM BOŚ, highlighting that the market may have overreacted to short-term headwinds.
Long-term challenges remain
Despite the recent rally, the stock’s trajectory over the past twelve months tells a more cautious story. The 50% annual loss underscores broader challenges the company faces, including market saturation, margin pressure, and changing consumer habits. Monday’s rebound may simply be a correction within a longer-term downtrend.
Tuesday’s trading on the GPW was relatively subdued, with Modivo shares oscillating between 100 and 102 zł. The company’s market capitalisation stands at nearly 7.8 billion zł. Whether the board member’s purchase proves to be a timely bet or a premature one will depend on Modivo’s ability to deliver improved financial results in the coming quarters.
