Lion solar farm: Ox2’s largest PV project in Poland nears completion

Ox2, the Swedish developer and renewable energy producer, is wrapping up construction of its largest photovoltaic farm in Poland, the 165 MWp Lion project in the Lubuskie region. The facility, located in the Sława municipality, is scheduled to start operations in 2027 and will generate around 184 GWh of electricity annually.

According to the company, the site has already undergone geodetic surveys, land clearing, and preparation for module installation. The steel support posts for the PV panels have been fully driven, and the mounting structures as well as the photovoltaic modules themselves have been installed.

Key infrastructure progress

Work has advanced simultaneously on the main receiving station (GPO) and the high-voltage connection. One of the most complex tasks was the directional drilling under the Oder River, which will link the farm to the national power grid. – The construction of the Lion PV farm is proceeding according to schedule, and the milestones achieved confirm efficient project execution and good cooperation among all parties involved – said Mariusz Brzozowski, Construction Project Manager at Ox2 Polska.

Brzozowski added that the Lion project is the company’s biggest solar investment in Poland, delivering clean energy and supporting the country’s energy transition.

Ox2’s growing polish portfolio

Lion is Ox2’s second solar farm in Poland, following the 100 MWp Rutki installation in Opole province. In April 2026, the firm announced preparations for a third PV farm of 51 MWp in the Świętokrzyskie region. Ox2, headquartered in Stockholm, is owned by global private equity investor EQT.

Once fully operational, the Lion farm will avoid tens of thousands of tonnes of CO2 emissions annually, contributing to Poland’s renewable energy targets under the EU Green Deal. The project also created hundreds of local construction jobs, with further opportunities expected during the operational phase.
