Kruk maintains investment plans, expects higher debt supply

Kruk invested 351 million złoty in debt portfolios in the second quarter of 2026, down from 577 million a year earlier, but collections rose 5% year-on-year to 1.04 billion złoty. The company expects a greater supply of debt in the second half of the year.

The Polish debt collector spent 351 million złoty on acquiring new portfolios in the April-June period, compared with 577 million in the same quarter of 2025. The nominal value of purchased portfolios reached 1.1 billion złoty, down from 2.85 billion a year ago. Collections from previously acquired portfolios, however, increased to 1.039 billion złoty, exceeding the group’s accounting assumptions by 45 million.

About 85% of investments were in unsecured retail debt. As in the first quarter, most repayments came from foreign markets, with Poland accounting for 40% of total collections.

Foreign markets drive growth

CEO Piotr Krupa noted that every geographic market posted year-on-year growth, despite the weakening of the Romanian leu. – Combined collections across all markets were 5% above our accounting assumptions for the period – he said.

In Spain, the company observed a clear improvement compared to the first quarter, with a nearly 20% quarter-on-quarter increase in repayments. Krupa added that operational teams, particularly in Poland, are heavily engaged in transformation projects, including the development of an integrated digital ecosystem.

Outlook for the second half

Kruk maintains its forecast that, similar to previous years, the second half will bring a larger supply of debt and higher potential investment values. The company expects to benefit from a growing pool of distressed assets across its core markets.

Full audited financial data for the second quarter of 2026 will be published on August 26. After the announcement, Kruk’s shares on the Warsaw Stock Exchange fell 1.08% to 413.1 złoty per share.
