LOTAMS, the key maintenance, repair and overhaul provider for PLL LOT, is pushing to reduce its dependence on the national carrier. The company is actively seeking new foreign clients and is finalising a major investment in a new hangar at Rzeszów-Jasionka airport, set to open this autumn.
In 2025, LOTAMS increased its revenue by PLN 20.8 million year-on-year, but its net profit fell by PLN 6.9 million, dragging down all profitability ratios. The company’s sales missed budget targets by 20.2%, mainly due to a shorter-than-expected peak season for base maintenance, delays in contracting work at the Rzeszów base (RZE1), and the failure to launch a fourth line in 2025. To counter the weaker revenue, LOTAMS implemented cost-saving measures, cutting operating expenses by 18.8% against the budget through workforce adjustments, reduced use of agency staff, and delays in non-essential investments.
Around 86% of LOTAMS is owned by Polska Grupa Lotnicza (PGL), which is fully controlled by the state. The company’s financial report explicitly names its heavy reliance on PLL LOT as a risk factor, warning that the loss of liquidity by its main client could negatively affect the company. – The company consistently implements a program of market and product diversification of its revenues – said the management board of LOTAMS in the financial report.
Financial performance and cost optimisation
The company’s base maintenance segment, which involves major, time-consuming aircraft checks lasting several weeks, remains the largest revenue source, though its share of total income decreased in 2025. Line maintenance, covering daily servicing before and after flights, grew in importance, driven by the expansion of PLL LOT’s fleet. However, the late entry into force of new commercial terms with the key client and component delivery delays caused by geopolitical factors also hurt results.
LOTAMS ended the year with fewer painting projects and lower billable hours in base maintenance. In response, management froze planned hiring for the new Rzeszów base (RZE2), reduced contractor usage, and rationalised subcontractor and material costs. The company estimates its net result for 2026 could be around PLN 0.9 million lower than in 2025, due to high fixed costs and depreciation of the new hangar combined with initial underutilisation.
Expansion and new contracts
Construction of the second hangar (RZE2) at Rzeszów-Jasionka has been completed, and the general contractor is conducting tests and commissioning. Operational readiness is scheduled for 1 September 2026. The new facility will increase the company’s capacity for base maintenance, especially for wide-body aircraft like the Boeing 787 Dreamliner. LOTAMS is in talks with Air Canada to expand cooperation to include heavy checks on the Dreamliner.
To diversify its client base, LOTAMS is bidding on contracts for Boeing and Embraer aircraft servicing. The company is working to secure long-term deals with operators of the Embraer fleet, such as Finnair and SAS. Line maintenance remains concentrated at Warsaw Chopin Airport, where PLL LOT accounts for 90% of that segment. The management board added: – Planned launch of the second location in Rzeszów will allow to increase capacity for servicing Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft. LOTAMS is negotiating with a new client Air Canada to extend the scope of cooperation to include heavy checks.
