Jedwabno battery park takes shape as 2026 grid link looms

All battery containers and medium-voltage transformer stations have been delivered and set on their foundations at R.Power’s Jedwabno energy storage project, a 150 MW / 300 MWh facility in Poland’s Warmińsko-Mazurskie region. Energisation of the site is planned for December 2026, with a consortium of Nomad Electric and ESIX handling the construction.

The completed stage covers 64 battery containers and 32 containerised medium-voltage transformer stations, which now stand on their foundations. Closing the delivery and foundation phase clears the way for the remaining installation work at what R.Power treats as the flagship asset in its storage portfolio.

The contractor consortium is working in line with the agreed timetable, according to the developer. Construction began in February 2026, and the whole cycle from the first works to grid connection is expected to take about ten months.

Capacity market contract and PLN 270 m financing

The commercial groundwork was laid well before the first excavator arrived. In December 2024 Jedwabno was awarded a 17-year capacity market contract, and in January 2026 R.Power signed a long-term optimisation agreement with Axpo.

In June 2026 the company closed a financing package worth roughly PLN 270 million with Siemens Bank and Erste Group Bank, covering the construction of the storage facility.

A portfolio split between operating and ready-to-build assets

Jedwabno is not the only battery project in the group’s books. R.Power currently holds 0.9 GW / 3 GWh of storage schemes in operation or under construction, while a further 0.7 GW / 2.8 GWh has been commercialised and is ready to enter the build phase.

– The structure of electricity generation in Poland is changing at an impressive pace. In 2025, renewable sources accounted for more than 30 percent of electricity generation in our country – said Marcin Pajewski, board member and technology director at R.Power Group.

R.Power was established in 2010 and is based in Warsaw. The company operates as one of the largest independent power producers, with 2 GW of assets either running or under construction.

On 30 September 2026 the group collected the Nowy Impuls award at a gala held during the Energy Days conference in Katowice. The distinction honoured its role in opening large-scale photovoltaics to active participation in the balancing market, as well as its contribution to building Poland’s standing in European renewable energy and storage.
