The Polish heat pump market is stabilizing after a sharp decline, while sales of energy storage systems and air conditioning are surging, according to Marcin Gardas, Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Grodno. The company reported a net profit of PLN 11.4 million in the 2025/26 financial year, reversing a loss of nearly PLN 22.9 million a year earlier.
Grodno’s consolidated revenue rose to PLN 1.22 billion from PLN 1.16 billion year-on-year. Speaking at a results conference, Gardas said the group is growing on a shrinking market, taking market share in photovoltaics, heat pumps and energy storage. In the first quarter of 2026, Grodno recorded a 22% year-on-year sales increase, despite Poland’s construction output falling by around 13-14% at the start of the year.
Between January and May 2026, the number of new photovoltaic installations in Poland dropped by 38% year-on-year, with the steepest declines in micro-installations and industrial-scale systems, Gardas reported.
Heat pump market stabilizes after crisis
After a peak in 2022 when nearly 200,000 units were sold annually, the heat pump market plunged to around 50,000 units. It has since rebounded and is now stabilizing at roughly 90,000 units per year.
– What is perhaps more important is that the narrative around heat pumps has changed, especially online. There was a period when very negative opinions appeared, people talked about horror bills, there was a lot of disinformation. At that time pellet boilers were heavily promoted. Now the trend is reversing, and we are seeing praise for heat pumps again. We expect stabilization or a slight increase – said Marcin Gardas.
Energy storage and air conditioning gain momentum
– Energy storage now accounts for a very large part of our sales in the renewable energy market – Gardas added, noting that Grodno is preparing a new storage product and gearing up for further growth.
– Air conditioning is becoming an essential part of construction – he stressed. Andrzej Jurczak, CEO of Grodno, pointed out that air conditioning is now a standard feature in apartments.
– Our experience from the heat pump market is being applied to air conditioning. A heat pump and an air conditioner are almost the same device – Marcin Gardas explained.
Grodno’s CEO also highlighted a wave of consolidation in the sector. – The smallest companies without a strategy are losing ground. They practically have to join larger entities like us to survive. At the same time, customers and installers are becoming more professional, demanding excellent local service and good e-commerce – said Andrzej Jurczak.
Looking ahead, Jurczak sees strong prospects. – We are on a stable growth path. After the defense sector, energy transformation is the next most important area. We see investments in new power grids, wind farms, and positive effects of the National Recovery Plan. The electrician is becoming one of the most sought-after professions – I think it is the third most attractive after doctor and lawyer. We have very good prospects until 2030 – he concluded.
