Google’s Owner Boasts Results: Strong Revenue Growth, Shares Up

Alphabet, Google’s parent company, reported its second-quarter results on Thursday. Revenue jumped 24% year-on-year to $119.8 billion, driven largely by advertising income from search and YouTube. The company also posted high profits, boosted by a rise in the value of capital investments.

Growth was primarily fueled by advertising revenue from Google Search. Additional cash came from ads tied to the World Cup on YouTube. The company also saw strong expansion in its cloud business, driven by demand for AI solutions.

Advertising and Cloud Drive Growth

Analysts note that AI-based products are gaining traction among both consumers and business clients. Alphabet’s Gemini AI assistant is approaching one billion users. According to the Associated Press, the robust ad revenue growth suggests AI complements traditional search rather than replacing it.

The strong performance indicates that Alphabet’s heavy investments in artificial intelligence are beginning to pay off, as highlighted by the Associated Press.

– Our AI investments are redefining what is possible across every part of our business – said CEO Sundar Pichai in a statement.

AI Investments Pay Off

In response to the financial data, Alphabet’s shares rose by $2.71 to $344.62 per share.

The cloud unit posted strong growth, with enterprises increasingly adopting AI tools. Alphabet’s capital expenditures also contributed to the elevated profit figure.
