Factory set to earn half a billion zlotys from PSE contract. Polish nuclear project in the background

Fabryka Przewodów Energetycznych (FPE) from Będzin has signed a framework agreement with Polskie Sieci Elektroenergetyczne (PSE) for the supply of cables to build and upgrade the highest-voltage transmission lines. The contract is worth PLN 362.1 million net, or roughly PLN 445.4 million gross, with deliveries scheduled for 2026–2031 and a total length exceeding 13,000 km.

The agreement covers phase conductor cables for nine projects, including the construction and modernisation of 400 kV lines in Pomerania and Warmia, as well as infrastructure linked to Poland’s planned nuclear power plant. FPE was chosen as one of two suppliers in the PSE tender. Due to the framework nature of the deal, the exact scope of each delivery will be specified in subsequent orders placed by the transmission system operator.

FPE expects that fulfilling the orders will allow it to boost production of copper and aluminium cables by approximately 70 percent by 2027. The company’s order book for that year already matches the output levels achieved in previous years.

A contract worth half a billion zlotys

– This framework agreement with Polskie Sieci Elektroenergetyczne is more than a business contract. It is a vote of confidence and confirmation that Polish industry has the competence to carry the burden of modernising the country’s strategic infrastructure. Not only can we deliver the cables – we can deliver the certainty that the energy of tomorrow will flow safely – said Agnieszka Rupniewska, CEO of FPE.

In connection with the contract, the company plans to expand its production capacity at the Będzin plant. One of the financing options under consideration is a further capital injection from the Industrial Development Agency (ARP). In 2025, ARP already provided a total of PLN 34.5 million to the company.

Expansion in the shadow of nuclear power

The state-controlled ARP currently holds 79.2 percent of FPE shares, while the remaining 20.8 percent belongs to the State Treasury. The government is analysing the possibility of contributing its stake to ARP, which would consolidate ownership and potentially facilitate further investment.

FPE has been operating in Będzin since 1928, specialising in copper and aluminium cables used in the energy, railway and industrial sectors. The latest contract marks one of the largest single orders in the company’s recent history and underlines Poland’s push to strengthen its domestic supply chains ahead of major energy infrastructure projects.

The deal also signals a strategic shift: the Polish state, through ARP, is betting on local manufacturing capacity to support the country’s energy transition and the construction of its first nuclear power plant. With the PSE contract, FPE gains a stable revenue stream for several years, allowing it to invest in technology and workforce.
