After years of experimentation and searching for a new direction, Mercedes is returning to the qualities that made it a benchmark for luxury and comfort. The new C-Class, in its electric C 400 4Matic version, will be available in Poland this autumn.
The first version of the C-Class to arrive is an electric one with a large battery. Even though it is an EV, traditional fans of the brand should feel satisfied and interested. According to Autokult, the new model is stylistically close to the GLC, although the bodywork differs. The front end is imposing and features a large, heavily chromed grille typical of the electric version. Despite its size, it does not hurt the aerodynamics: the drag coefficient is just 0.22, helped by the smoothly sloping rear.
The unit tested by Autokult was the C 400 4Matic with two electric motors that produce a combined 489 hp and 800 Nm. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.0 seconds and reaches a top speed of 210 km/h. The car uses an 800-volt electrical architecture, with maximum charging power of 330 kW and recuperation power of 300 kW.
Cabin and range
The battery has a usable capacity of 94 kWh. The official range spans from 592 to 762 km.
Inside, a huge display stretches across the entire width of the cabin. Its diagonal is more than 39 inches and it shows 10 million pixels. The MB.OS system, packed with functions and assisted by artificial intelligence, runs through this display.
A glass roof extends along the full length of the interior and can be electrically darkened or lightened. The number of gadgets, lights and digital features is meant as Germany’s answer to the Chinese way of attracting buyers with technology-rich cars.
Traditional driving experience
The air suspension and sport tires ensure a ride that is both dynamic and extremely comfortable. Mercedes traditionalists should find in it the sensation of a genuine Mercedes.
The premiere of the C 400 4Matic is scheduled for autumn 2026. The first examples should appear in Polish showrooms at the same time.
