Coal prices send an important signal: buy now or wait?

July is the perfect time to start preparing for the heating season, especially for households that rely on coal. Those who decide to buy fuel in advance may avoid significantly higher expenses, as demand-driven price increases in autumn could reach several hundred zlotys per tonne.

The current market situation favours early buyers. In the middle of summer, coal prices are at their lowest, and many suppliers offer promotional discounts. As more people start placing orders in the coming weeks, prices are expected to rise steadily.

According to data cited by the dom.wp.pl portal, prices at the Polska Grupa Górnicza (PGG) store remain competitive, though transportation costs must be added. Local coal yards often provide delivery as soon as the next day, but at slightly higher rates than direct producers.

Seasonal patterns and savings

The coal market is strongly seasonal, with the most favourable prices typically available in spring and summer. Analysts recommend targeting the period from April to June.

– The best deals and terms are usually offered between April and June – said experts from the KB.pl service.

Delaying the purchase until autumn may result in a price hike of several hundred zlotys per tonne, especially during the peak season in September and October. Early buyers not only save money but also avoid the rush and potential supply bottlenecks.

What to expect in the coming months

As demand increases, suppliers will gradually adjust their pricing. Households that secure their coal now can lock in lower rates and ensure timely delivery before the winter season begins.

Local coal yards are already reporting higher inquiries, and some have started offering early-bird discounts. The trend is clear: the later you buy, the more you will pay.
