July is the perfect time to start preparing for the heating season, especially for households using coal. Those who decide to buy fuel in advance can avoid higher expenses, as coal prices may rise by several hundred zlotys per tonne when demand increases in autumn.
As summer reaches its peak, coal depots are offering the lowest prices of the year. Sellers often run promotions to encourage early purchases. Meanwhile, waiting until September or October could mean paying significantly more – experts warn that the price difference can reach up to several hundred zlotys per tonne.
The Polish coal market is heavily seasonal. Buying off-season not only saves money but also prevents last-minute rushes and supply delays. Local depots sometimes deliver the next day, but their prices are slightly higher than those from producers.
Seasonal price dynamics
– Targeting the period from April to June is best, as sellers often offer better prices and conditions – explained the analysts at KB.pl. – By purchasing coal outside the peak season, you can save realistically and avoid the autumn rush and problems with completing supplies at the last minute.
In the Polska Grupa Górnicza (PGG) online store, prices for basic coal grades remain at summer lows. Additional costs for transport apply, but for many customers ordering directly from the producer still pays off.
Practical purchase advice
Households that rely on solid fuel heating should consider buying coal now rather than waiting. The savings can be substantial – a difference of several hundred zlotys per tonne multiplied by several tonnes needed for a season means a significant budget relief.
It is also worth checking local depots regularly, as some offer competitive prices and flexible delivery options. But the key rule is clear: the earlier, the cheaper.
