Baumit builds a new factory in Poland for 100 million zlotys

Austrian-owned construction materials company Baumit is investing roughly 100 million zlotys in its fourth manufacturing plant in Poland. The facility is rising in Zimna Wódka, Opole province, right next to the A4 highway. Completion and launch are scheduled for the second quarter of 2027.

The new factory, being built with support from the Katowice Special Economic Zone, will cover 5,000 square meters. Baumit already operates plants in Pobiedziska, Łowicz, and Bełchatów. The company belongs to the Austrian industrial group Schmid Industrie Holding and supplies insulation systems, machine-applied plasters, and restoration materials across 21 European countries.

Construction has reached key milestones. The reinforced concrete frame of the main production and warehouse hall is finished. Workers are now building the fire separation wall that will divide the production area from the storage area. A fire water tank is nearly complete. The technological tower, a crucial element reaching 9.5 meters above the foundation, is about 80 percent erected. Work in the raw materials storage zone is also advanced.

Strategic location and environmental benefits

– Thanks to the strategic location next to the A4 motorway, we will shorten transport routes, which will translate into more efficient logistics and a reduction in the carbon footprint associated with deliveries – said Zbigniew Kaliciński, president of Baumit. The new plant will primarily serve customers in southern Poland.

Tomasz Kaps, plant manager in Zimna Wódka, confirmed that all works are on schedule. – Completing the main hall structure and starting the assembly of the technological tower are among the most important milestones of this investment – he added.

Automated and low-emission production lines

The factory will be equipped with fully automated, low-emission production lines. It will manufacture facade plasters and paints, adhesive and adhesive-filling mortars, machine plasters, screeds, masonry mortars, and concrete. Baumit also recently acquired 100 percent of MasterMas, a company specializing in ready-to-use filling compounds, to strengthen its product portfolio.

The investment underscores the continued confidence of foreign manufacturers in Poland as a manufacturing hub. The proximity to the A4 highway not only improves logistics but also aligns with the company’s environmental goals by cutting transport emissions.
