AmRest Holdings is changing its chief executive after six years. Luis Comas will hand over the top job at the end of January 2027, and María Elena Pato-Castel, a manager with nearly a decade of previous service at the group, has been chosen to take his place.
Comas will hold the position of CEO until 31 January 2027, according to a stock market filing published by the company. His resignation was explained by a wish to devote himself to new personal and professional plans.
The handover was announced on 6 October 2026, and the incoming chief executive starts work on 1 February 2027. AmRest, whose business rests on global restaurant brands, confirmed the succession plan in the same communication in which it addressed its plans for the Polish market.
Pato-Castel arrives with more than 30 years of experience in the foodservice sector. She was associated with AmRest for almost ten years, and her professional path also took her through the Spanish market.
KFC, Pizza Hut and Iberian franchise experience
– Her experience also includes roles held in companies from the Yum! Brands group running KFC and Pizza Hut restaurants in Spain, as well as activity as an owner and operator of KFC restaurants on the Iberian Peninsula – the company said.
Her appointment takes effect on 1 February 2027, one day after the outgoing CEO’s mandate expires.
Taco Bell to debut in Poland
AmRest used the same announcement to outline its growth intentions in Poland. The company is preparing to bring the first Taco Bell outlets to the Polish market before the end of this year.
AmRest ranks among the largest independent restaurant operators in Europe, running its business in many markets chiefly through a franchise model and specialising in the management of outlets carrying well-known global names. On the Polish market it operates KFC, Pizza Hut, Burger King and the Starbucks coffee chain.
