Alphabet reports 24% revenue surge in Q2, shares climb

Alphabet, the parent company of Google, posted a 24% year-on-year increase in revenue for the second quarter of 2026, reaching $119.8 billion. The strong performance was driven primarily by advertising revenue from Google Search, while the company also reported a significant profit boost from capital investment gains. Shares rose by $2.71 to $344.62 following the announcement.

According to the Associated Press, the results indicate that Alphabet’s heavy investments in artificial intelligence are beginning to yield returns. The company’s ad business remained the main growth engine, with additional revenue coming from YouTube advertisements tied to the World Cup. Meanwhile, Alphabet’s cloud division experienced robust expansion, fueled by demand for AI solutions.

AI investments paying off

– Our investments in AI are redefining what’s possible in every part of our business – said Sundar Pichai, Alphabet’s CEO, in a statement.

Analysts noted that AI-powered products are gaining traction among both consumers and business clients. Gemini, Alphabet’s AI model, is approaching one billion users. The AP emphasized that strong ad revenue growth may confirm that AI complements traditional search rather than replacing it.

Market reaction and outlook

In response to the financial data, Alphabet’s stock price climbed by $2.71 to $344.62 per share. The results underscore the company’s ability to monetize its AI advancements while maintaining its core search advertising business.
