Orlen invites clients to participate in LNG and bioLNG market needs survey

Orlen has launched a survey targeting business partners to better understand their needs for small-scale LNG and bioLNG. The company seeks data on projected volumes, preferred pickup locations, and usage models to align future infrastructure and services with real market demand. The survey will run until the end of June 2026.

The initiative is part of Orlen’s broader efforts to develop the small-scale LNG and bioLNG segment in Poland and Lithuania. By collecting detailed feedback from the B2B sector, the company aims to design infrastructure that offers greater flexibility in cost management and supply logistics. The survey results will directly inform the planning of transshipment and logistics infrastructure for the 2029–2033 horizon, including location, capacity, and operational models.

– We want to develop LNG and bioLNG infrastructure based on actual client needs. The better the infrastructure is tailored, the greater the flexibility in managing costs and organizing deliveries. That is why we count on wide market participation in the survey, which will help us better plan development directions and prepare solutions that meet the needs of business partners – said Grzegorz Bujnowski, Executive Director for Gas Trading at Orlen.

Record growth drives the need for precise planning

Since the launch of small-scale LNG deliveries in Poland in 2016, loading volumes have grown twentyfold, reaching 192 thousand tons in 2025. On the Lithuanian market, demand has increased eightfold since the Klaipėda terminal started operations in 2020, hitting 33 thousand tons last year. This rapid expansion underlines the importance of continuously mapping demand to guide infrastructure and logistics decisions.

Orlen intends to conduct the survey on a recurring basis, establishing a regular dialogue with the market. The company sees this as a key tool for adapting to changing conditions and ensuring that future investments are well justified by actual consumption patterns.

Infrastructure expansion plans for 2029–2033

The primary source of LNG supply for the region will remain the Świnoujście terminal, where capacity for truck loading is being expanded from 40 to 60 trucks per day. A complementary facility is being analyzed in Gdańsk, with two variants under consideration: direct ship-to-truck transshipment or using onshore storage tanks. Planned capacity there would reach up to 48 trucks per day, with operations expected to start in 2030. Meanwhile, the Klaipėda terminal in Lithuania already plays a key role in serving Baltic markets and has potential for further expansion if demand growth continues.

Participating in the survey gives clients a direct voice in shaping these future projects. The questionnaire is available on Orlen’s website and will help the company match supply infrastructure to evolving needs across transport and industry sectors.
