Polska Grupa Górnicza (Pgg), Poland’s largest coal mining company, has established consultation points across its mines where employees can get detailed information about support instruments, mining leaves, one-time severance pay, and Zus procedures. The initiative, launched in October 2025, has already served thousands of miners navigating the restructuring process.
The consultation points operate at Pgg mines, offering workers information about available support instruments, their employment situation, required documentation, and conditions for specific solutions. Employees can access consultations in person, by phone, and at some mines through the Employee Portal or email. The most frequently discussed topics include mining leaves, leaves for coal mechanical processing workers, one-time severance payments, pension entitlements, seniority, sick leave periods, and rules for submitting applications to Zus.
According to Pgg, the points have already recorded thousands of contacts with employees. At the Bolesław Śmiały mine, the point has served approximately 400 people and sent over 60 applications to Zus by the end of May. Workers there also inquire about making up for sick leave periods and dates of acquiring pension entitlements. At Murcki-Staszic, around 800 employees eligible for mining leave have used the services, with many returning for multiple consultations about transition dates and application verification.
Thousands of consultations across the company
The Row mine operates five consultation points regarding the Voluntary Departure Package and has sent 570 applications to Zus, receiving approximately 390 return decisions. Around 1,000 underground workers and 190 coal mechanical processing workers have used the services there. At Piast-Ziemowit, about 1,000 employees have used the consultation points located in the Employee Affairs Office and the Hr Office.
The Ruda mine has conducted approximately 4,000 employee consultations – 3,000 at Bielszowice and 1,000 at Halemba. Workers there most frequently ask about mining leave entitlement, leave for coal mechanical processing workers, employee allocation processes, sick leave not counted as mining work, benefit calculation during mining leave, and the possibility of taking up work during leave. Due to the liquidation of the Bielszowice section, employees also inquire about jobs in liquidation work and allocation to other Pgg units.
Growing interest in support instruments
At the Sośnica mine, three consultation points have provided 350 consultations to 260 employees, serving both blue-collar and white-collar workers. At Mysłowice-Wesoła, the point provided over 620 pieces of information and consultations since its launch in October 2025. Interest grew significantly after the application process for support instruments began in February 2026 – from 240 consultations in the first period to over 380 between February and April 2026.
Pgg, as Poland’s largest coal company, focuses on supplying the domestic market, including the power generation sector. The consultation points are part of broader restructuring efforts, helping employees navigate their options during a challenging transition period for the mining industry. The company provides information about jubilee awards for those using one-time severance pay when less than 12 months remain to acquire the right to such an award at the date of contract termination.
